Whether this is your first time reading our publication or your 160th issue (and you have saved every copy), please accept our heartfelt gratitude. Without you and our loyal advertisers, we would not be TYLER TODAY, Tyler’s oldest and only city magazine, since 1989.
TYLER TODAY Magazine made its debut with the Fall, 1989 issue. Thirty-five years later, the name is still the same. Actually, our name says it all. Every issue reflects what is going on today in Tyler, East Texas, and beyond. From the beginning, TYLER TODAY has offered interesting profiles about the people and events that make Tyler and Smith County unique. We believe we have the perfect blend of informative content, colorful photography, and a broad base of advertiser support that maintains TYLER TODAY as one of the strongest publications of its kind in Texas.
Today, the publication stands on the shoulders of visionaries who came before us with creativity, determination, and exemplary skills. The list is long, but we refer to them as our TYLER TODAY family. Some are no longer with us, but we feel their presence, and a whisper in our ear when the going gets tough. Others are a phone call away and jump at the opportunity to help, offer advice, or write an article. Our TYLER TODAY family includes art directors, assistants, contributing writers, editors, interns, owners, photographers, and staff from 1989 to the present.
From the beginning, we have shared stories that spotlight important happenings in our community and the projects that people do to make Tyler a better place for today and tomorrow. We strive to shine a light on the unsung heroes who built Tyler’s reputation as a leader in giving and we recognize the achievements of our neighbors. We feature people whose names are unfamiliar as well as famous, homegrown legends like Earl Campbell. Of course, some things have changed over the years, but TYLER TODAY’s goal remains the same: to illuminate the absolute best of the people, places, institutions, and organizations in Tyler, East Texas, and beyond.
As we mark this milestone, most of all we are grateful to you, our readers, some of whom have been here from the start. After thirty-five years, we are proud of what we have done, and who we are. TYLER TODAY is honored to be a part of and embraced by this community we call home!
Thank you for joining us in commemorating this milestone occasion as we reflect on 35 years, 160 issues, and still counting. Visit www.tylertodaymagazine.com for archived issues dating back to 2010.
Here’s to all the TYLER TODAY’s gone by and all those still to come!
