For 75 years, the Junior League of Tyler has been a cornerstone of service and community impact in East Texas. What began in 1950 as a bold vision to unite women in volunteerism and community service has grown into one of the region’s most dynamic and enduring nonprofit forces, driving meaningful change in education, health, and family support.
“As we mark this milestone anniversary, we are not just celebrating the past—we’re looking ahead to a future filled with even greater impact, developing women to do a world of good.”
– Kayleigh Temple,
Junior League of Tyler President
From mentoring young women and advocating for children to addressing some of our region’s most pressing needs, the Junior League of Tyler has remained steadfast in its mission: to advance women’s leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training, thus improving our community through both fundraising and volunteer service. This year, as we celebrate our 75-year legacy, we honor the thousands of lives changed, the partnerships built, and the traditions carried forward by generations of dedicated League members.
A Legacy of Leadership and Compassion
The Junior League of Tyler has long served as a launchpad for community leaders. Through structured training, mentorship, and meaningful volunteer opportunities, women from diverse backgrounds gain the confidence, skills, and experience to step into leadership roles, both within and beyond the League. Our impact is visible across boardrooms, classrooms, and council chambers throughout East Texas.
This year’s 75th anniversary theme, Developing Women to Do a World of Good, is a reminder of our beginnings in women’s voluntarism and training, as well as our dedication to continue to do the good work that supports our community. Our legacy is not just one of fundraising; it is one of friendship, purpose, and transformative service, both for our members and our community.
A Holiday Tradition with Heart
Each year, one event captures the heart of the community and the mission of the League: Mistletoe & Magic. This beloved four-day shopping experience is the League’s largest fundraiser and one of the most cherished holiday traditions in East Texas. Shoppers from across the region gather to explore boutique gifts, gourmet goods, and one-of-a-kind holiday treasures—all under one festive roof.
Mark your calendars for November 5–8, 2025, as Mistletoe & Magic returns to the W.T. Brookshire Conference Center in Tyler. This year’s theme, Lone Star Holiday, honors our East Texas roots with a blend of southern charm, western flair, and festive tradition. From bluebonnets to boots, it is a heartfelt tribute to the place we call home—welcoming our community to come together, give back, and create holiday memories that shine as brightly as the Texas stars.
But Mistletoe & Magic is about so much more than shopping. For 47 years, this joyful tradition has helped the Junior League of Tyler raise more than $9 million for local nonprofits and community programs. Event proceeds go directly back into Smith County through grants, service projects, and volunteer hours, supporting organizations such as the Children’s Advocacy Center of Smith County, Fostering Collective, Christian Women’s Job Corps, and the Literacy Council of Tyler, among many others.
“Each ticket purchased and sponsorship secured contributes to a greater mission—to give back generously and create lasting change. It is a joyful tradition that combines the spirit of the season with the power of philanthropy.”
– Gina Moers,
Mistletoe & Magic Chair
